BuckBeaks Return

This is a guild challenge piece from last year(2008). I used sheer organza to create the illusion of drifting clouds that Buckbeak was pulling....the castle is my imaginations idea of what a magical castle should be. I love the fading apricot evening sky and the swarvski chrystals twinkling in the sky. As usual, embellishment holds a facination for me so the trees have wonderful seed pearls...I like the way the binding breaks with the picture yet extends it also...I love the idea that some of the trees "got loose" and ran off into the border...The moon is a re-occuring element in many of my quilts.

Morning's Moon Set

This piece was done to experiment with sheer fabrics and photo transfer. I wanted to capture the soft misty illusion of early morning...I also appliqued some unique yarns to re-enforce the horizon line...It's a more abstract approach for me....Its a small 9 X 12 "tester quilt"...I think I will use more sheer fabrics on my larger pieces now that I see how they quilt...
