Last year's guild challenge 2007 was "Flights of Fantasy". It was a struggle for me to get my ideas into reality....I had started with a pre-conceived idea about what I thought I needed to do.....Big Mistake....After 3 days and 1 blog.....I trashed the whole thing and decided I would just make a quilt that was exciting to me. My creativity took wing and I was really happy with the quilt that I created. I earned the comment; "Best interpretation of theme" from one of the viewers.
Now it's that time again, and I am working on this year's challenge quilt. The Challenge is
" I found It in the Library" I did the same thing, and created a quilt that was fun and challenging to me, then I found a book that fit. It's called "Buckbeak's Return". I wonder if you can guess where my idea came from?

A Fine New Year

How nice to have a brand new year to start over again.........Surely this one will not fly away as quickly as the last one...? I had a computer melt down last year and a new email address so finding my Blog again this year was a challenge but I did it so I am happy. My goal this year is at least 12 blogs....one a month would be nice but let's not get overly excited....
This is the new friend who is visiting our windows to entertain the cats....especially on rainy days.

This fine Mess

Finally finished the two BIG quilts that had been hanging on my conscious for so long and blocking any attempt at the Challenge quilt that is due in June. Four hours of interrupted time and a tentative start left this fine mess......Clearly this is NOT it....
I have decided to leave behind the concept of the mum in the print as a flower and take off for unknown waters.....why can't a chrysanthemum bloom under water? Maybe its not a mum at all and has become a sun? or my scissors are calling and you know mum petals could be feathers or fish scales.....
Why is that the creative process for me seems to always start out with the obvious and mundane and then when I am thoroughly disgusted, my brain takes wing and goes off to wild and unknown places.. Is it like that for you ?

Easter Bonnet

It seems Easter has come and gone and I am still thinking about my Easter Hat.
I had to invent an excuse to have one this year. Missing family reunions, regular church attendance and those type of events, I went to a ladies "Tea".
My God. ! With a "Fashion Show" no less.....
Generally NOT my type of thing.... BUT I got to make my hat and wear it all afternoon.
There is just something so wonderful about "dress-up" and this hat was my excuse to play dressup. I made it the night before from all those wonderful things that I keep in many, many drawers. My "someday drawers" ..... You just never know when you are going to need nine yards of organza wire ribbon, 2 dozen silk spring flowers and 5 lace buterflies. What's in your "Some day drawers?"
