If There Be Monsters

This little guy was made for my grandson Nicholas, who told me there were "Monsters" in his closet at night and his parents did not believe him. He even drew me a color picture of the Monster. He said he had 3 eyes so he could see better at night and very long claws to catch little boys...So I made him his "own" Monster to take to bed with him to protect him.

Burgundy Hills

This little quilt was created to meet the challenge #43 of the Fast Friday Quilters online group. The challenge was to make a quilt using "manipulated" fabric in some new way. This was a new concept and technique for me. I am happy with the sense of depth it provides as the hills moving away. I worked really hard on the puffed up oak trees and think they add a new diminsion to the quilt. The "shadows" are cast by fine semi-tranparent netting.

Quilt of Valor

This quilt was created to support our local guild program of making quilts for soldiers that were injured in the war. The quilts are presented in a little "presentation bag" and given individually to the soldiers in a near by VA hospital. I try to make one every year to support this program. They are generally Red, White and Blue and of a patriotic nature. This one has flannel as the backing which helps make it warm and keeps it from sliding off the persons lap.

Our Lady of the Chocolate Pines

Created for the Pacific Piece Makers Quilt Guild annual challenge. This quilt addressed the "I LOVE Chocolate" idea for the show. In my own way, this was an image of an imagined place and a special lady who lived there.....somewhere out of time. I used commercial cottons and some hand dyes. The halo around the lady was made with a fine netting. She has a hand beaded necklace and small gold cross. There are also many swarvarski chrystals in the sky and on her gown. The size was approximately 22" X 32" inches.

Cypress Dune

This is a quilt I worked on as a personal challenge to use muted colors. It was a challenge to create the feeling of depth among the sand dunes.
