In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...

This is my Fast Fridays Quilt Challenge #37 for October. It has really been a boost to me to have a deadline. The challenge was " Outer Space". I was surprised how difficult it was to make nice round planets....I enjoyed the design and composition aspects and of course the embellishments.
This quilt has Swavarski crystals and hand beading. It is approx. 18" by 24". The back ground fabric is a hand-dyed batik. I also used some of my thread blending techniques learned in my recent Carol Shinn class in the East Bay.

Having had the privilege of seeing this in person today, I can only say that as nice as it looks here, it is so very much more exciting in person. The colors glow and the feeling is just what Donna was aiming for. I particularly liked her quilting -- some areas dense, others more open, interesting stitching. And she did this in under ten days, start to finish. Congratulations, Donna!

Hi Donna! I found you. Looking through your blog posts, I just have to say that I am always overwhelmed at your quilts. Your creativity, and ability to put your ideas into fabric--amazing!
